Step back in time and add a touch of Victorian elegance to your Christmas tree this year. In this hands-on, three-hour workshop, you will discover the ancient art of gilding, guided by expert Amelia Jane.
Whether you are looking to create a bespoke gift or a unique decoration for your own home, this session combines heritage craft with festive magic.
The Workshop Experience
Upon arrival at the Aubourn Estate, you will be greeted with your own personalised bag containing your materials. You’ll have a dedicated, fully prepared workstation equipped with professional gilding brushes, gold leaf, and all the tools required to bring your creations to life.
During the session, you will:
Master the Basics: Receive a brief, fascinating introduction to the world of gold leaf.
Gild a 6x4" Picture Frame: Complete with a printed insert of your choice.
Victorian Traditions: Take a nostalgic journey to the 19th century as we gild real walnuts—a classic Victorian decoration famously used to adorn fireplaces and trees during the era of Charles Dickens.
Festive Finishing Touches: Depending on your session, you will also gild a Christmas Tea Light or a beautiful hanging ornament.
Enjoy: a hot drink and a delicious piece of home-made cake
